Unfortunately, most pancreatic cancer patients don’t respond to current therapies, including chemotherapy. The presence of a specific type of white blood cell in the pancreatic cancer environment is associated with helping the cancer grow and resist treatment. The goal of this research is to understand the role of these cells in treatment resistance and ultimately, identify a drug to help chemotherapy be more effective. This research is critical to the American Cancer Society’s mission to prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering.
